Projects:
Identity Through Painting is a project dedicated to exploring personal individuality through portraiture. Each painting was created in response to in-depth interviews with friends who generously agreed to be my subjects. The questions I asked ranged from simple prompts like “What’s your favourite colour?” to more introspective ones such as “Where do you think you store trauma in your body?”
By combining the stories, emotions, and imagery shared in these conversations with my own imagination, I created a unique painted portrait for each individual. These works aim to reflect not only physical appearance, but also the invisible, internal worlds that shape who we are.
Oh Man explores themes of identity and individuality, with a specific focus on gender as experienced by those who identify as male. Building on ideas from my previous project, this body of work centers around conversations I had with a number of men, where I asked about their personal experiences of masculinity in contemporary Western society.
Through these discussions, I gained insight into the emotional, social, and cultural dimensions of being a man today. Drawing from what I heard, and filtered through my own understanding, I created three pieces, each representing a different facet of the male experience. This project is both a reflection and an interpretation, aiming to capture the complexity, vulnerability, and evolving nature of masculinity.
From Life are various paintings of a live model for my Univeristy coursework.
Order In Chaos explores the idea that opposites not only occur, but coexist, in nearly everything. Movement cannot exist without stillness, and chaos cannot exist without some form of order happening simultaneously. This project reflects on the constant interplay between these forces, revealing how tension and harmony shape both the world around us and our internal experiences.
